Roseville is a delightful city in Placer County within the Sacramento Metropolitan Area, with a population hovering around 150,000 residents. Do you know how Roseville got its name? While there are a variety of theories as to how Roseville got its name, Mrs. Cassie Tomer Hill, one of the city’s earliest residents, seems to have the most compelling one. According to Hill, the name was chosen because of the abundance of wild roses that bloomed in the ravines in and around Roseville. Evidence for this can be found in early newspapers, where comments refer to the wild flowers in the vicinity of Roseville. The term Roseville first appeared in newspapers during the presidential election of 1864.
